William P. Flanagan
Partner, Northern Virginia

Bill Flanagan has spent his entire legal career at the firm, representing companies, from large national corporations to small start-up companies, in numerous industries, including energy, finance, health, technology, and telecommunications. He handles complex, management-side litigation in federal and state courts and agencies brought under anti-discrimination, disability, and leave laws. Bill also has considerable experience in other employment matters, including executive compensation, wage payment, trade secret and non-competition law, wrongful termination, and issues faced by U.S companies who wish to operate globally. His practice includes large class action and collective action cases, as well as individual mediations and arbitrations, and he often represents senior executives when negotiating employment or separation agreements. Bill regularly counsels clients' legal and human resources teams and provides training and updates on a host of workplace issues.

Representative Experience
Defending a large energy company in a class action discrimination case involving hundreds of current and former employees.

Obtaining a temporary injunction from a Virginia state court and then a permanent injunction after a teaming partner on a large government contract solicited over 100 of the client's employees.

Halting the efforts of a major health care company's 11 former sales executives who left the client's employment, started a competing business with a confusingly similar name, and then solicited the client's customers.

Winning a reverse discrimination employment dispute following a jury trial.

Negotiating severance agreements for numerous top-tier executives of major corporations.

Advising a U.S. corporation on issues faced in transferring employees overseas.
