Our Denver office, formed 10 years ago, has rapidly grown to be one of the largest legal practices in the Rocky Mountain region, featuring a broad array of legal talent. Hogan & Hartson has become one of the preeminent firms in Colorado for sophisticated business transactions, complex commercial and white-collar litigation, and large public projects that require extensive experience at the intersection of law and public policy.
Chambers USA, which ranks lawyers and firms based on in-depth interviews of clients and lawyers, has given our corporate practice a No. 1 ranking four years in a row in 2004-2007 and lauded it as "one of the strongest practice groups in the state" and "has garnered a reputation that stretches far afield." Deals handled by the Denver office were recognized in six out of the 10 categories in the 2004
Denver Business Journal Dealmakers Awards. In 2003 the
Denver Business Journal honored our cable television practice by naming one of our lawyers “Best of the Bar” in the communications area. Our clients range from many of the region’s Fortune 500 companies to venture-backed start-ups and emerging technology companies.
Our litigation team includes the former Director of the Central Region for the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, and a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Nominating Committee. We handle highly sensitive internal investigations, patent infringement cases, employment matters, and a broad range of other commercial disputes. We also represent corporations and executives being investigated or charged with violating civil and criminal statutes, particularly the federal securities laws.
Denver lawyers practice in the areas of public finance, real estate, and environmental and governmental regulation. As a result, we have been at the forefront of events shaping the Rocky Mountain region, including the development of INVESCO Field at Mile High, Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, and the nation's newest ski area; the financing of Denver International Airport and expansion projects at the University of Colorado; and the creation of a major life sciences complex at the former Fitzsimons Air Force Base site. Members of the Denver office include lawyers who have served as U.S. Representative from the 3rd Congressional District of Colorado and on the House Appropriations Committee; Director of Policy for a former Colorado governor; Chief of Staff to a U.S. House of Representatives member; Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Interior; President of the National Association of Bond Lawyers; and as Special Assistant to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Deputy Administrator.
